Mitsubishi Motors introduced in Thailand the new Triton Absolute, a prototype that builds on the brand’s renowned L200 pickup and incorporates the sturdy, solid and rigid nature of the Japanese pick-up. The presentation took place at the 40th Bangkok 2019 Exhibition, which will take place until next April 7th in the Thai capital. Behind this vehicle is the brand’s commitment to explore a new vision for its L200 that will fulfill the theme ‘Developed Beyond Robust’ – one of Mitsubishi’s key strengths and that has evolved over the five generations of this pick-up. The Absolute Concept is more robust, dynamic and powerful than a conventional L200, daring to explore even more adventurous ways. The striking design allows the Triton Absolute to challenge all environments. The carbon fiber body side and bottom protection panels, aggressive styling, red detailing and enhanced LED lighting are all part of the nature of this upcoming L200, closed with the carbon fiber tailgate. Implicit in this L200 Absolute are the extended wheel arches to accommodate the oversized off-road tires that fit the black wheels, while the crafted suspension not only lifts the body by 50 mm from the ground as it provides a longer suspension stroke and provides superior handling and maneuverability. Mitsubishi Motors hopes that this daring and ambitious prototype, the Triton Absolute, will have a strong impact on pick-up enthusiasts around the world by incorporating the mechanical durability and the ability to travel on all sides of the L200. For now it is a prototype, but it is already known that this prototype will be part of exhibitions of the brand in the next 12 months, in order to arouse public interest and to gather opinions, with the objective being to offer a pick-up L200 more aggressive, which will guide the future development of branded products about dodge challenger outdoor car cover.

Vilner is a Bulgarian coach, located in Sofia, who managed to make his name by adapting sophisticated interiors and wheels for all types of vehicles. We have already had the opportunity to show various works of the company His latest creation is called Mitsubishi Allroads Ronin and shows how a Mitsubishi Lancer can be turned into an all-terrain. Vilner’sAllroads Ronin is based on a 2011 Lancer Ralliart and takes its name from the Japanese term Ronin which is used to designate samurai riders who form without a master. The interior of the Mitsubishi Ronin is covered in a material called Amaretta. Of Japanese origin, it is similar to the Alcantara that is used in the upholstery of many vehicles, but the Amaretta surpasses it in quality. The head rests mimic the wood of a samurai’s armor, but in reality they are covered with velvet treated with heat and pressure.  The plastic frames that equip the original Mitsubishi Lancer have been replaced with metal, while the steering wheel is upholstered with Nappa leather. This same material was used to cover the handbrake lever that looks like the handle of a samurai’s sword.  All very oriental, but for the instrumentation, the specialists of the Vilner were inspired in the sports of the Ferrari. Sound insulation was also worked to make the Mitsubishi twice as quiet inside. In addition, an 11-inch touch screen with a rear-view camera was placed. On the outside, the Ronin is further from the ground than the Lancer and features a set of Yokohama Geolandar all-terrain tires and 60-watt LED headlamps. Vilner did not inform the price of the car, so it will be necessary to wait for the beginning of March, when the Geneva Motor Show will open.

The Japanese model was the latest choice of Italian police to carry out their corresponding tasks both on the road and outside. In fact, there were two copies that joined this body of security. At the beginning of last November we saw how the Italian police reinforced its fleet of vehicles with a series of copies from the Jeep manufacturer, as a result of the long-standing agreement with the FCA Group. However, last week we were able to meet new members arriving from Japan. It seems that the Carabinieri are not content with the 19 copies of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, not to mention the Renegade and Wrangler who were already present, and wanted to strengthen their police vehicle park with two units coming from a Japanese manufacturer, Mitsubishi. In this way, Eclipse Cross enlisted in the security forces and will be charged with carrying out all types of services both on and off the road. As usual in this type of situation the body of these two copies received the corresponding modifications to be part of the police. That’s why they now feature a blue tint that combines with red and white colors, emergency lights, siren and other specific elements. On the other hand, the interior highlights the Odino system, which allows real-time connection to the Italian police databases. These two units come with a four-cylinder turbo-fueled gasoline engine and a displacement of 1.5 liters. This engine produces 163 hp at 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, in addition, it is associated with an automatic transmission of the type CVT and a system of total traction in the four wheels. In short, a modest example that is very shocking to the extravagant, luxurious and powerful models used by other security forces spread across the different countries of the world, as is the case of Dubai and the United States.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show will hit the market later this year. Since its arrival in 2013, this plug-in hybrid has been able to win customers thanks to the union of a single vehicle of several characteristics that meet the preferences of the current buyers: an SUV large enough to comfortably transport a family, with a range that fulfills what it promises and a competitive price and in the same level of Diesel versions of the same model. Mitsubishi also features some new features in terms of design, interiors and powertrains. Outside, the new Outlander PHEV now features new LED headlights, rectangular shaped foglights, grille with new internal elements, new 18-inch alloy wheels and a new rear aerofoil. The interior now offers new leather-trimmed seats, new details in the center panel finishes and a new instrument panel. In terms of powertrains, the Mitsubishi no longer features the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Otto gasoline engine to adopt a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit, but Atkinson’s cycle which according to the brand provides higher efficiency . The engine is still associated with another electric drive, which now has a new battery of 13.8 kWh (before was 12 kWh), allowing a range of 35 km in 100% electric mode. Data on power, torque and performance will be revealed at the Swiss event. Also highlighting that the new Outlander PHEV now has two new driving modes: Snow, which improves traction on snow and ice covered floors, and Sport, which provides greater performance.

Mitsubishi will be presenting a light facelift at Outlander Sport (the ASX here in Brazil) at the upcoming New York Motor Show. Based on the edition that arrived in Brazil in 2016, a fine chrome bar was added to the grille and LED daytime running lights next to the fog lights, the only changes in the exterior. Inside, Outlander Sport adds a new multimedia hub with smartphone mirroring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The center console and shift lever have also been revised. The changes were only slight for a year / model update, since the most significant change had already been made in 2015.  As an option, the American ASX will receive a Touring Package that adds panoramic sunroof, automatic braking system, track change warning, blind spot sensor, rear camera and soundproofing improvements.  The top-selling Mitsubishi model in the United States, the Outlander Sport starts at $ 19,795 and is equipped with the same engine 2.0 of the Brazilian ASX, with 148 hp, arising coupled to a five-speed manual transmission or CVT of 6 ratios . There is also a version with a 2.4 hp 168 hp engine, always with the CVT.

The new Mitsubishi Xpander made its debut in the Indonesian Show this week. This is a low-cost MPV for Asian markets, based on the XM Concept prototype , which was presented last year at this same event. With this new model Mitsubishi will fight with the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza, Honda Mobilio, among others, in a segment much demanded in Asia. The new Mitsubishi Xpander is a seven-seater vehicle that features an SUV-inspired exterior styling. It features the current design language of the Japanese brand called ‘Dynamic Shield’, which includes a front with a grid in the shape of the letter ‘X’, generously sized bumper, wide wheel arches and a general look quite futuristic. On the back LED flashlights feature a light signature similar to the prototype presented last year, plus a floating-style ceiling, a feature that is quite common in today’s style. The 16-inch alloy wheels complete an exterior aesthetic that will certainly not go unnoticed. The range of engines includes a 1.5-liter petrol block with 104 hp and 141 Nm of maximum torque, coupled with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission and always with front-wheel drive. Standard equipment includes ABS brakes with EBD and front airbags, while the more equipped ones add ESP and assist in starting on ramps. In addition, the most complete finishes can include automatic climate control, keyless access, button-start, infotainment system with touch screen, Bluetooth, rear camera, folding rear seats, etc. The new Mitsubishi Xpander will be manufactured at the Japanese brand plant in Bekasi, West Java (Indonesia) with a production volume of around 80,000 units per year. Its arrival in the main Asian markets will take place in 2018.
